Performance Management

General information
Performance Management (PM) is a process designed to assess employee performance and support professional development. It is a collaborative partnership between the employee and their immediate supervisor to guide and optimize contributions to the university. In most cases, PM should be viewed as an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of WWU employees.

Staff Employees
Staff employees are evaluated as follows:

  • Non-Exempt (Hourly) Employees: Receive an interim review 90 days after hire and an annual review thereafter. Employees must be full-time or part-time, working an average of 20+ hours per week, to participate in the performance management process.
  • Salaried Exempt/ Salaried Non-Exempt Employees: Receive an interim review six months after hire and an annual review thereafter.
  • Administrators: Follow the guidelines for exempt employees.

Faculty Employees
Faculty employees are evaluated according to the rank and tenure process.
