Walla Walla University hosts annual Fall Service Day

Fall Service Day has been a signature event on the Walla Walla University campus for many years, and this year was no different. On October 23, WWU’s Center for Humanitarian Engagement (CHE) held its annual Fall Service Day, drawing over 500 students, faculty, and staff to participate in various community oriented service projects across the Walla Walla Valley. This longstanding tradition highlights the university’s commitment to service, one of its core values, and helps introduce students with the blessing of serving their local community.

This year, service projects ranged from environmental clean-up efforts to assisting local non-profits, schools, and shelters. Participants were assigned to groups and dispersed to different locations, each with a unique service mission. Anique Gruia, the CHE’s student marketing manager, is proud of the ongoing tradition of service in the community. “I think it really shows the selflessness and commitment to Christ that so many of our students have,” said Gruia. “The student body here, and the university community in general, is just so eager to help others and to connect with others, and that’s something that I’m really proud of.”
